Welcome back to school! We are looking forward to an awesome adventure in our Language Arts in Middle School this year.
To start off the year with a BANG there will be a Big Write week, where YOU are the creative force behind the story! Following this, Grade 6 will start on their class book 'The Phantom Tollbooth' by Norton Juster; Grade 7 with delve into the off-kilter world of 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll and 8th Grade will be thrown back in time to wrestle with 'The Canterbury Tales' by Geoffrey Chaucer (14th century - middle English!)
Spellings will be given on a Monday ready for testing on Thursday! Fair warning for you there...
Homework will usually also be set on the Monday or the Tuesday. As much of the Big Write style is in children expanding their verbal communication to develop their written work, do not be surprised if I set a 'spoken' homework. In these cases the homework might be for them to describe in detail a journey or an object to you for example. A signature in their book from you will indicate that they have completed the work.
